Proofs is an ongoing series of photographic prints considering the figure of the Independent Researcher, and the quixotic drive of meaning making.  Picking up narrative threads from the It’s Not Brakhage project, each Proof functions as a failed attempt to forensically de- and re-construct a fraudulent 16mm film reel believed to connect filmmaker Stan Brakhage’s death to DuPont’s film and wepons businesses, the Brandywine school of Illustration, and the Manhattan Project. Cut up, rearranged, and scrawled with frantic handwritten annotations, each Proof attempts to reconstruct the secret codes hidden in the Lost Brakhage film reel but fails to present any coherent picture from the archvial materials.
